SECOND THOUGHTS - This wire and bamboo bridge over an inlet on the east bank of the Mekong acros from Phnom Penh sways crazily when anyone walks across it, let alone rides a motorbike. Luckily the water was low and we were able to choose a different spot to ford the stream. (April 1996)
OUT OF TIME - A temple in the Lao style graces a small town on the east bank of the Mekong, 17 km north of Kratie. Once I find my map I'll be able to figure out the name of the town. Older temples like these seem to be falling out of favor as new, large temples decorated with paintings of their benefactors rise all over Cambodia. (April 1996)
BIG BLUE - You never know what you'll run across when you go off the beaten track in Cambodia. In this case it was the unveiling of a gigantic blue elephant at a temple overlooking the Mekong north of Kompong Cham. We arrived just in time. (April 1996)
